Shoot Experience
Shooting this Ferrari F40 definitely goes to the top of the list for one of the most legendary cars we have ever photographed. Not only is it a very significant car to me personally, but it also plays a very significant part to Ferrari’s history and is one of the most favourited cars amongst fans.
This particular example, one of just a few in Johannesburg South Africa, had been owned by the late Lolly Jackson. The F40 is currently in good company amongst many other Ferrari’s in a private collection.
I had originally seen this F40 at a car meet one Sunday and I decided that I had to shoot an F40 some day. About one year later, I had been put in touch with the owner. We arranged to shoot the F40 at the owners residence.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the owner and just behind him, in the entrance a beautifully restored Ferrari Dino, just behind it under a cover, The F40 was parked.
I set up all my necessary equipment, I then walked around the car to find different angles to shoot, I was spoiled for choices. I spent just over an hour shooting the exterior and around 2 hours on the entire car.
I’m still very pleased how these photos turned out, it’s hard not to be. I think the car does most of the work.
After the shoot, we sat down for a drink with the owner to chat. We also had the opportunity to look at some of the other Ferraris in his collection.
A special thanks goes out to the owner and Greg Marucchi for allowing this shoot to happen.
